Welcome to the Club

They love to tell you about the ones that sacrifice,

didn’t sleep,

worked hard and made it.

What about the ones that sacrifice,

don’t sleep,

worked hard

then faded.

Goals to achieve greatness,

ego never over-inflated,

learned from mistakes,

gave the last dime and product never received compensation.

Behind every success there’s thousands of failures,

thousands that have to pick up the pieces,

start from the bottom

pursue a new set of strangers.

They forget about the ones that never make it out alive.

Deceived,

lives torn,

lied towards,

fate wasn’t in their cards,

but their dreams they still strived for.

No luck involved,

no trustful business relationship to rely on,

no advice from a mentor for that hill they shouldn’t have died on.

When that first domino falls,

it snowballs until the pride’s gone,

vision fades working a 9-5

to keep the heat and the lights on.

Cemetery of broken dreams,

21-gun salute,

lowered casket gets the dirt —

praise to those who made it through.
